BioCurrently working as an academic advisor, which is the capacity in which I'll mainly be using this LJ. I have a BS in biology, a Ph.D. in English, and an MLIS.
I'm a creative writer by vocation but wouldn't want it as a career because having to do it for a living kills the joy (to say nothing of the inspiration). One thing I love about fan fiction is that it forces you to do purely for the love of the writing and community: no money, no social recognition. If you're doing it, you must enjoy it. In my original writing, I've completed two novels manuscripts and several short stories but am now moving toward screenwriting (or web show writing). I tend toward character-heavy science fiction or fantasy. I enjoy exploring relationships in alternate cultures.
